Biden believes that US trade negotiations must always protect American workers by insisting on basic labor and environmental standards. He has opposed CAFTA and fast tack authority for President Bush. He continues to fight for better labor and environment standards in trade agreements. He will oppose new trade agreements that don't meet those high standards.

Americans are living longer, healthier lives, which is creating a growing challenge to provide adequate care to senior citizens. Estimates indicate that we will need more than 100,000 new nurses in the next decade, and thousands of health care workers and aides. Joe Biden believes that we can meet that need by inverting in more training and by attracting new people to the profession. He intends to expand funding for nursing students through increased funding of loan and scholarship programs. Biden supports retraining laid off workers as nurses and in other health care fields.

Increase the minimum wage. No one should work a full time job and still be too poor to meet their minimum needs. Joe Biden supported raising the minimum wage and he will continue to fight for better pay for all working Americans.

All employees should be covered by regulations ensuring a safe working environment. Joe Biden has been a supporter of OSHA regulations from his earliest days in the senate. Time and again he has voted to extend and improve OSHA regulations.
